Postponed until further notice

March 16, 2020

As you know, UNICEF’s commitment to putting people and their safety first is of utmost importance. Given the recent government emergency declarations about the Novel Coronavirus, it is with great sadness that we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 UNICEF Gala Houston. This decision was made after consulting with event leadership, board members, external stakeholders and staff, and is in keeping with our deep sense of responsibility to our community.

On behalf of our Southwest Regional Board, Gala Chairs, Honoree, and everyone who has worked so hard to create this powerful moment for UNICEF in Houston, we are so sorry to miss seeing you on May 8th for an impactful event in support of children around the world. While we don’t expect to safely reschedule until next Spring, we look forward to being back in touch in the weeks ahead with an early save-the-date. Please keep an eye out for further information in the weeks to come.

This virus is a painful reminder of the global challenges facing families and children around the world. UNICEF stays committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure every child, everywhere, has the opportunity to lead a healthy and safe life. UNICEF is a leader in responding to the outbreak and educating people around the world – to learn more, please visit:
While we will miss the opportunity to see you all in May, we look forward to our continued partnership in amplifying children’s voices and helping affect change both here in the U.S. and abroad. I hope that you will still consider supporting UNICEF’s work in making sure all children are healthy and protected, which is more important now than ever, especially given the number of families on the move today.
For those of you who have so generously donated to this event, sponsored a table, or purchased tickets – thank you. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to UNICEF’s work for children, and we will be in touch directly regarding your support.
